I do not beleive this to be a ride engineering QC issue, rather an issue with repeatability from bike to bike from KTM. my options to install this were, file / grind material from the aluminum mount, or file / grind material from the weld on the KTM Frame. After a bit of fitting and aligning, marking and grinding, it installed just fine.
recommend Helicoil inserts for threads for those who service their stabilizer regularly. Overall product is as described, and works well
i dont know what bike you have but if it has an aluminum frame, welding to it is not good. the whole frame needs to be heat treated after welding or you will weaken the area around the weld. the front face of the steering head is not a stressed area and putting a few 6mm holes in it will not affect the integrity. most of the bikes used to have similar holes in that area to hold the ignition box but now they are placing them under the seat instead. if its a ktm, we have a bolt on bracket that slips over the frame. any other questions please email me directly [email protected]
