When it comes to cleaning your machine’s chain, the Grunge Brush gets the job done quickly, effectively and conveniently. The brush is designed to address several different elements of chain cleaning. For example, the brush is positioned off the handle at such an angle to prevent rubbing your hand against the machine while you scrub. The brush itself is set up in a U shape with bristles on all three sides in the interior. This allows you to easily position the brush on the chain and scrub multiple sides of it. With minimal maneuvering, you can get to all four sides of the chain.
One of the great things about a tool that is built for one major purpose is that there are no shortcomings when it comes to getting that task done. The Grunge Brush exemplifies this perfectly. Cleaning the grime off a chain requires bristles firm enough to scrub well. Many brushes are too soft to do the job adequately. However, some brushes are too harsh and end up damaging the O-rings in the process. The Grunge Brush uses bristles that are perfect for the task – not too soft and not too hard. It will clean off the grime without damaging your chain’s O-rings.
In order to give the Grunge Brush extra utility, the end is also fitted with long bristles. This will let you clean other parts of your motorcycle or ATV aside from the chain, such as your sprockets or wheels. The package also includes a mild degreaser you can use to clean the chain. It works great, but it’s also biodegradable. You can use it around plastic and rubber parts without worry.
The Grunge Brush is strong and built to last for many uses. However, the bristles are available as replacement parts if you need them.
Cleaning your chain is worthwhile. A dirty chain will run roughly, causing unnecessary wear and requiring premature replacement. The Grunge Brush makes this cleaning process easy and hassle-free. When it comes to chain maintenance, no garage is complete without the Grunge Brush.
The Grunge Brush enables you to clean your chain with ease.
Three-sided bristles allow you to clean all four sides of your chain.
Long bristles on the end let you clean other parts of your bike, like sprockets and wheels.
Regular component cleaning prevents premature wear and tear on chain and sprockets which assures smooth operation of the drivetrain.
Bristle blocks are adjustable to accommodate all sizes of chain.
I would argue this product is a must-have for your garage or toolbox. There's no other option out there that will get your chain as clean without potentially causing damage (ie: pressure washer). Having one of these handy is well worth the investment.
This is a great ingenious brush! It really beats up that mud that gets on the chain. The bundle is nice the chemicals do the job. I like that the bristles are replace-able so you don't have to buy a new brush each time they wear out. You can simply buy the cheaper bristles. Will buy the bristles when they wear out.
Works great for general chain cleaning. The brush on the end is so coarse that it's really only good for getting hunks of mud off or for getting down into the chain close to the sprocket.
I don't bother with the included cleaner, favoring Maxima Chain Clean, though. The bristles have softened up some but still work well and for $5 to replace them, I'll be doing that when these wear out.
While the actual grunge brush and the liquid does it's job very well, the container the liquid is in leaves a lot to be desired for me. The 2nd time I unscrewed the lid it came apart like I stomped on it.
Other than that, the actual brush works fantastic and I would still recommend it.
The tool and solution work great for getting all the grime off your chain. Have used this on several bikes, 125-800CC. The larger chains are obviously a tighter fit and clean easier while the narrower chains require extra manipulation to get the side brushes to work the sides of a chain. Will definitely be buying replacement solution and brushes when needed.
A great tool for cleaning the chain between motos or whenever. Place it forking down over the top stretch of the chain right behind the swingarm buffer while rolling the back wheel forward, then do the same at the bottom stretch of chain right in front of the chain guide while rolling wheel forward. This way it stays firmly in place and cleans all surfaces of the chain. Just be careful not to step on it because the plastic will break easily. Otherwise it holds up fine. The cleaning fluid works well also, but should probably only be used before washing with water.
We've been using this on all our bikes, but that includes 50's, 70's and a 2-stroke 65, along with my 450. It fits the 450 chain perfectly, but you have to work it side to side more for the smaller chains.
One thing I learned, was to get the maximum benefit from it, you need to use it prior to the rear sprocket. That allows the center bristles to get down into the chain more. If you use it around the sprocket the bristles aren't going to get down into the chain well enough.
I use this with a chain cleaner, going around 2-3 times, and then wash it off with the powerwasher and the chain looks good as new. Impressive.
There are other products that I think you can adjust to chain sizes, thus the 4 stars instead of 5
The brush is a need for sure. It has adjustable bristles and they're replaceable, so that's nice. The cleaner it came with said to dilute it in water, but I put it right on the chain and scrubbed away. It worked awesome. My chain looks brand new!
This tool makes cleaning and maintaining the chain a snap. If you are like me and the look and sound of a dirty chain is drives you CRAZY you must purchase this tool and retire all the other brushes you use to maintain a drive chain. I just start the bike on the stand pop it into first and let the engine do the rest (Probably not the proper way to use this tool but it works). Would recommend to a friend would purchase again.
Works really well. I actually haven't used the solution that came with it, but a few sprays of some simple green and a little scrubbing and the chain looks great. Just a few minutes and the job is done.
