Easy to install, works perfectly. Hardwired to power so don’t have to rely on battery. Speed reading was within a mile an hour of my truck (probably off due to my programming.

The tach is kind of laggy but still easier to see than the factory ktm's Speedo. It would be a bonus to keep the check engine light and fuel light but the actual inline temp gauge makes it a ok trade off since I have a vortex ecu and the fuel light doesn't work with it anyways.

Wonderful product
Easy to install, easy to use, plenty of features, and a good price.
The only complaint I have is the rpm isn't incredibly accurate but it does the job very well for the price and the methods of pick up used.

Good fit for CRF 450 RX
I like everything about this except for 2 things. The mount provided broke easily and the engine temp numbers are small on the display.

How much wiring modification is needed to fit this to a 2010
crf450x or does it plug straight in?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I installed this on my 06X and it was pretty straight forward just took some time and patience. The Vapor comes with all the wiring needed to install it. Only issues with wiring is routing the wiring where/how you like em. No wiring mods need to be done to the bike itself. The left radiator hose will have to be cut in order to install the temp sensor but thats no biggie. I wired the Vapor power wires straight to the battery, haven't had any issues. Rpm wire just wraps around the spark plug wire and the speed senor will need to be fitted to the brake caliper mount, drill a small hole and screw in the pickup senor. Directions for all this stuff are included. Hopefully this covered everything. Just ask if not! :)
Trail tech website says the 75-200 is the model for my 03 wr450f, will this 75-2014 work as well?
Nathan C on Sep 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it will not. Part #75-2014 is to be used on the Yamaha Raptor 700 and YFZ450 models. We do carry part #75-200 for your machine, it is Rocky Mountain part #1152320003.
Can you put this on a four wheeler that does not have an electrical system already?
Trevor S on Mar 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure but I don't think so. When you order the Vapor they ask you the make and model of your four wheeler so they can custom tailor the wiring to match your bikes existing wiring schematic. I guess you could connect it directly to the battery. This would create a parasitic draw though and your battery would constantly be going dead unless you installed a cutoff switch between the Vapor and the battery. If your machine has a magneto instead of a battery system I would have to say no it won't work.
What will work for a 2016 Husqvarna 701 Enduro?
Matthew H on Feb 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Depends what you want to use it for they have a gps one and you can have maps or just use this speedo/tach it’s up to you for ktm/husky they have everything ready to go other bikes you almost have to wire certain parts yourself I.e shift lights , over heat light and backlight for screen I just attached a 9v batt to my RM250 with the speedo/tach works great but that was only to have the lights work you don’t really need them if you don’t use them.
Once the battery dies is that it for the unit or is it replaceable?
Mark S on May 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It has a little watch battery on the back of it. You just unmount it to get to it. It also has the option to wire it to your bike. You can hook it straight to your battery and the Vapor goes to sleep after about 20 min. I have mine wired to switched power so it’s only powered when the key is on.
Do you have to buy the billet mount also to mount the Vapor on a 2012 YZ250F??
Todd B on Apr 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, But I do believe there is a plastic, cheaper version. The billet case is highly recommended because "riding is wrecking" and depends on the rider but some wrecks can be worse than some. Mine has help up to some fairly bad wrecks over the past couple of years I've had it installed.
Does this computer have an hour meter?
Ryan B on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes; see page 35 of the manual for Accumulated Ride Time.

Accumulated Ride Time
Accumulated Ride Time (ART) tracks the total
amount of time the engine has been turned on.
Accumulated Ride Time is not resettable.
The highest Accumulated Ride Time Vapor can
display is 9999:59 hours (when the maximum
value is reached, Vapor will not roll the number
back to 0).
Accumulated Ride Time (ART) is shown only on
Screen 3 and alternates with the Odometer
(ODO) by pressing .
Accumulated Ride Time increments whenever
RPM data is present (the vehicle is turned on.)
I've got a 2001 cr250r will this work on a two stroke motor, and do I need a battery?
A shopper on Nov 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: the trail tech unit can be self powered by its internal lithium battery , and from what i read it can be powered by ac or dc systems and i believe there was upper voltage limit ,so you might want to instal a voltage regulator simple 1 wire for ac that a simple lighting circuit would provide if you have no lighting circuit on your cr 250 you will have to be satisfied with its internal battery (limited backlighting would be one result)
Does this have a neutral indicator ? Thanks ....
JEFFREY W on Jun 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. Double check with the Trail Tech, because there could be differences based on what model bike you have, but for my 2006 Kx 450, there was nothing that hooked in to the transmission. Coolant temp, speedo, tach, hour meter, and a few more features are included.
Can this read engine temp if atv doesn't have a radiator? 2000 Honda 400ex.
Ronnie V on Sep 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe it won’t it has many different ways to read the running time but not temp they do sell little stickers that go on your top end that show the temp but on an arc it would be covered.... I believe they have an aftermarket part that attaches to your spark plug but you get a lot of false reads since a spark plug heats up to so...
I have a 2016 kx250f, to power up the device can I tap into the capacitor plug on my bike? Or does this only work on bikes with a battery?
Stephen S on Feb 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can connect this to bike's electrical system (even if the bike doesn't have a battery).

Check out the product manual - from Trail Tech's website. In the Power Connection section, it indicates:

> As an alternative to running wires all the way to the battery, it
> is possible to tap into the electrical system. It is best to
> connect so power is not interrupted by key switch.
I have a 2003 Honda TRX400ex. I want to however mount the engine temperature sensor to the oil cooler, for a more exact readout. Did anyone do this yet? Would this work?
Liam W on Dec 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't think it will work without modification. It mounts in-line on the return or feed coolant line. So the only way it will work for you is if the tubes are the same ID. If they are not the same ID, I don't think there is an easy way to separate the temperature sensor from the piece that connects to the coolant lines. However, I ordered this product for a CRF450X dirt bike soooo they may include a different sensor for the quads? The 400's are air cooled right? Not sure, hope this helps....
I have a 2014 kx450 it’s a kick start and doesn’t have electrical stuff. Do I need electric stuff for this to work?
matt m on Dec 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The tach and speedometer do not need any electrical sensors. The speedo works on magnets mounted on the rotor. The tach works by wrapping a wire around the spark plug wire. The main unit does need powered by a battery I think. I am not sure if it will work on it’s own.
Will this work with the dynojet power commander v speed accessory input?
Jonathan M on Jun 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You place a magnet on your rim somewhere (they provide a few different methods), and mount a sensor to your fork. You put in your wheel diameter to the computer, and it takes a reading from the wheel sensor.
Would this work on an electric start 2006 TRX 450 with a race cut harness?
RICHARD B on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: That kind of depends. Do you still have the battery? If not do you still have the wires that came from your stator and regulator rectifier? You will need some sorce of 12v power if you want to back light to display, other wise you will only run off the battery in the vapor unit and when it dies you might loose your engine hrs and data. All the other essentials like engine temp, speed, and rpms run off of wiring that is on the vapor unit it’s self.
Will this fit my 2005 klr650 and if so will it be a direct fit or will I need something else to install it?
robert b on Apr 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The brackets that come with the vapor should work, however I recommend spending the extra on the aluminum style mounting kit. It is much sturdier and has survived many crashes on my KTM in the woods.

All of the connections to your engine should work also, but if you have a small 8mm bolt on the top of your radiator and want the sensor to go in there just specify and they will send you the different sensor no extra charge. Otherwise you simply take off your coolant hose and cut out a section and add in their sensor.

There are 3 different ways to calibrate for your speedometer to make sure it is accurate

I highly recommend this set up if you are thinking about getting it. I had a defective one and trailtech was awesome about contacting me back and sending a new replacement one ASAP. There was a small crack in the unit and it got moisture under the screen. I have had mine for 2 years now and no issues. It sees a lot of abuse in the woods and mountains.
Can you "preset" this unit to a specific permanent odometer reading? My bike does not currently have a permanent odometer, and I would like this unit to reflect the actual mileage on the bike.
Chris H on Nov 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not think you can. I don't think you can reset the hourmeter either. Once it gets going it's tracking as is I believe.
Will this mount directly to 2003 polaris predator 500 stock handle bars? Pics?
Brandon M on Apr 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yeah but the plastic hardware they send with it is pretty cheap will break easy. I made my own bracket. Or invest in one of upgraded mount
I need a computer for enduros. Will this do current and average speed while keeping track of time?
Allen R on Mar 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Trail Tech Vapor will show max speed, current speed and time. It also has a stop watch so you could keep track of your lap times and try to be as consistent as possible.
Will this mount on Fasst Flexx bars?
Brandon C on Feb 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I cut mine into the bar pad. Easy to do. Worked great. And looked great
Is this the vapor that comes with the "fin sensor"?
Dillon D on Oct 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: @ Dillon D, Alan G is correct. These have a sensor the mounts in line with the radiator hose. Cut the hose, install the clamps and you're all set. Trail Tech is pricey but they do a great job, tech support is good, and they stand behind their products. I love my Vapor. I also purchased the Vapor billet mount which is rock solid even in the most adverse terrain.

Could you use this to bypass the main switch assembly on a 2004 wr250f? I am converting mine to a dual sport, and I want to take out the stock (broken) tachometer, but it has that switch mounted to it and will never be able to get to it once I put a trail tech vapor in front of it.

They say you can’t alter the odometer but I bought a motorcycle with a somewhat fried unit where the numbers aren’t totally readable and was wondering if trailtech could transfer data to a new unit?
Batman
Douglas B on May 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can be, and you can do it yourself, however you have to contact trailtech and they will walk you through it. Did it on my vapor, worked perfect.
