Buy fo sho
So I’m knocking this down one star because I ordered two and one had a jacked up screen that wouldn’t work. The other one hooked up easy and works great. I highly recommend just wish RM ATV didn’t send me a dud. And yes I knew it was jacked up just by looking at it in the package.

Not a good product for a tpi bike
If I could give this product a lower review I would. However I’m rating rmatv itself. I don’t think the product is the problem. I have a 2019 husqvarna TE300i. It’s a tpi bike. I’m on my second hour meter and it doesn’t register hours correctly. I have 10 hours on the bike since I installed this hour meter and between the 2 meters I’ve only registered 2 hours. I think he hour meter probably works fine on other bikes but for whatever reason it don’t on this bike. The kicker is, it recorded the rpms 100% accurate on both hour meters. ~2000 idle and ~10700 max rpm. Makes sense. However. No hours.

Don't get this one!!!!
I'm on my 2nd one..1st one worked great for 150hrs..then it died this winter. Called rocky mountain and they were great and sent me a new one. Got the new one and it worked for 6hrs and now it resets to zero every time the bike is turned off. And now ii lost track of how many hours this fully rebuilt engine has. I hope they will refund me or put the amount towards a different brand that last longer.

I’ve been missing out!
Super easy to install and mount especially with the Tusk Mounting bracket (highly recommend that) The main reason I got this is to just keep track of hours and maintenance schedules. But the Tach function is super helpful as well. My only gripe is I wish they included better instructions on how to go through the menus and make changes. I tried to find it on YouTube and found a brief overview from Chase but that was about it. Over all I’m definitely happy I picked it up. I wish it would power down the LCD when the bike isn’t running just to conserve battery even more.

Second Tusk meter and I'm done
I will start out saying that I really like the Tusk product line and have quite a few Tusk items. I bought a KDX 220 last year and wanted a basic hour meter to keep track of oil and air filter maintenance. I installed the first Tusk meter and it worked well... for a bit anyway, and then it started screwing up. I called RMATV and went through some t-shooting procedures, and they confirmed that it was a faulty meter and to send it back for a replacement, which I did.

Received the second meter, installed it, but when I went to peel off the protective coating it pulled off the whole front face of the meter!! (pic attached) I ended up super gluing the face back on and it seemed to hold fine. Well, about a month later and the meter started screwing up again, and it reset the total hours, etc. and wasn't working properly. Yes, the wire is wrapped correctly around the boot.

After two attempts at using this meter I am done. I've used a Hardline hour meter on my CRF450 for almost 10 years now with no issues, so I will probably go that route. I've heard of several people having issues with the Tusk meter battery going out after a short period of time, which isn't good news. Like I said, I really like Tusk products, but this particular one isn't for me. It sounds like a lot of folks are having good luck with this meter, so maybe I'm just having some bad luck here.

Buy one if you do not have one!
Will always buy tusk if the make the product I’m looking for! Ordered this to put on my bike after a rebuild and I was impressed with all the options you get for the price. Easy to use and easy to install with instructional videos. The 2 sided tap makes for a quick secure fit and has lasted through wet rides and washes. Service timers make great for knowing when to change fluids and filters. Great product

Mine didn't come with instruction and I cant find them online. Can someone describe to me the functionality of each button? For example I tried to change the spark per revolution and both buttons just take me back to the main menu.
Dakota N on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The instructions are in the fold card that comes in the packaging. I will send you a email for the instructions.
I just installed this hour meter. I have approximately 2 hours on the bike since I have installed the meter but the meter is reading at .57. I assume that means just over a 1/2 hour. What could cause this? Could it be caused an incorrect sparks per revolution setting? Also, I must have thrown the packaging away, could you please email the instructions to me?
Roderick F on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine did not come with instructions, so can only answer from what i figured out myself. which is probably not enough. i bought the instrument only for its rpm abilities. I thought my trials bike was idling too fast and the instrument confirmed that. and allowed me to set the idle to spec.only after that did i look at the hour meter. The .57 reading means 57 minutes, so since you have about 2 hours (120min) on with yours installed, maybe it is an incorrect sparks per minute setting. wish i could say for sure. Dave
what do you do with the wire i cant find anything online or in the instructions that tells you?
Eric B on Sep 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Wrap the loose end around the the spark plug wire next to the plug boot or coil and secure with a zip tie or tape. You can cut it shorter if you don’t want so much bulk
1P1R, 2P1R, 3P1R, 4P1R, 6P1R, 8P1R, 3P2R, 5P2R or 1P2R ? Which one for a two stroke? It's lame they don't make it clear. This is my second time asking this question, whats up Rockymountain why are you deleting my question?
ROBERT B on Oct 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 1P1R = 1 ignition Pulse per 1 Rev of the engine. This is the setting for a 2 stroke which fires every rev. 1P2R = 4 stroke
1P1R, 2P1R, 3P1R, 4P1R, 6P1R, 8P1R, 3P2R, 5P2R or 1P2R ? Which one for a two stroke? Good grief you would think they would make that clear. It's lame that they don't.
ROBERT B on Oct 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Two strokes will use either 1P1R or 1P2R depending on the model. What bike is this going on?
what setting do i set the sparks per revolution for the TUSK hour meter. I assume kx250F sparks once per 2 revolutions. If so what setting is that 1P1R, 2P1R, 3P1R, 4P1R, 6P1R, 8P1R, 3P2R, 5P2R or 1P2R ?
Larry L on Aug 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have an 18 Husqvarna Fe350 I need the strokes setting. Is that something you can help with?
can you change the battery on it? Or its lifespan is 4 years.
Sandra M on Jun 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I do not think you can change the battery or atleast not without taking it apart.
Does this tell the time also? I never know what time it is when I'm riding!
Jason B on Sep 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No it does not display time. It only runs when the bike runs and has no battery back up memory so it can't do this.
How do you reset the Max RPM? Does the engine have to be running for that to be done? The instructions that came with the unit are garbage.
Adam G on Nov 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Every time you restart the engine it resets itself but holds the last ride
I am wandering what the ppr is on a 08 Honda crf250r? What is max rpm for this bike also?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Running it on a 17 Husky 300 so highest revs ive seen are in the 9000 range but should state the range on site. It was very easy to set up took the tank off mounted it up on the goose neck ran the wire to the plug wire and just wrapped it in tight coils some tape and done. Works fabulous great product
How do you turn the device off?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You do not turn it off. It's always on, like a digital watch.
What is the bolt spacing center to center? Same as KTM?
Doug J on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Didn't bolt it I used the double sided tape that came with it. I've had zero problems so far been about a yearEnter
how long is the wire? i need 8 Feet
Ben V on Mar 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It has been less than a year since the install. It is a decent length, 4-6', but definitely not 8.

What is the correct setting for a KTM 65?
Lee B on Jan 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You want the 1P1R setting which means one pulse equals one revolution. If it were a 4-stoke, you would want the 1P2R
can I cut some of the black wire off I have way to much ?
johnie b on Jun 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can cut it shorter to fit snugly around the coil.
Can the hours be reset to zero?
BRIAN T on May 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Service hours can be reset but total hours can not.
Why was this discontinued? I love these meters and they worked great for a great price!
