Decent tool, expensive for a non digital torque wrench
It’s a nice tool, a bit expensive but seems well built. Has a nice case. It didn’t come with a few bits that I wanted and expected.
You can purchase those at an extra cost. Which would make this a very expensive tool.

Dont know how i did with out it for so long
wrench always adjusted my spokes with a wrench and sound. i tap on the spokes with a wrench and tried to get the nice pitch sound knowing that were tight. I tighten my spokes a day before i got my torque wench like i did year 30 years. the next day i used new wench and found out how far i was off. Now i ride just a little bit more confident.

tusk torque wrench
Worked very well. Building a wheel it really was a surprise how tight the spokes needed to be before the wheel was ready for use.

Tusk spoke torque wrench
The tusk torque spoke wrench makes it easy to tighten and adjust the tension on your spokes. No longer do you have to guess if you have the spokes set at the right torque.

Very nice to have
Bought when I purchased a new KTM since it seems it takes a while for those spokes to settle in. This tool was easy to use to make sure all spokes are equally tensioned.

GREAT TOOL FOR TORQUING SPOKES
My only complaint is that this doesn't come with more size options. I bought additional sizes to round out the kit.

Hello. My RMZ 250 came with a 6.4 and 6.8 wrench. I am curious why Tusk does not include a 6.4 wrench in this kit or separately. The 6.4 does not fit my front spokes as tight as I think it should. Would the 6.3 fit better in anyone's opinion? The 6.8 is also a bit loose on my rear wheel spokes. Maybe 6.4 was provided to cover more than one size of spoke. Thanks
Craig B on Jan 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have found that the Tusk Spoke Torque Wrench nipple bits to be low in tolerance control and some even marked in the wrong sequential order, I.e., higher number fits a smaller spoke nipple. The problem with the spoke nipple bit fitting a bit loose comes into more of an issue with older wheels where the galvanic corrosion between the spoke, nipple and rim has taken a hold and is binding the nipples to the spokes and have bit into the rim too. A lose wrench bit can round off the nipples real fast. So, it is best to pre-lubricate the spokes a day before with penetrating oil to let it soak in to help break the corrosion lose. Also remember to first turn the spoke in the loosing direction 1/8th to 1/4th turn to break it free first before fighting it and make sure that the bit is fully engaged with the nipple to have the greatest strength resistance to founding off. Regardless of the bit number, use the tightest fitting bit that will fit the nipple.

Will this work with ktm?
DAVID M on Sep 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the 6.9mm size (included) works with my KTM 350 XCF-W. I think the KTM SXF and XCF 250-350-450 use the same size.
whats size spoke nipples (front and rear) does a 2015 kx450f have?
A shopper on Feb 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 6.0 in the front and 6.7 in the rear according to OEM.
will this toool work for my 2008 crf450r front/rear
tusk spoke kit or are the sizes different from stock ?
kyle f on Jan 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You will have to find out what size the spoke nipples are and see if they are included in the kit.
Hi! Does it worth it to buy this kit in comparison with a normal wrench?
Anthony B on Feb 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If you tighten a lot of spokes and as often as you should I think it's well worth it. Saves time and takes the guesswork out of it how much your tightening. Hope this helps!
Does the tool have to be recalibrated after a certain period of time?
corey w on Jan 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, it doesn't have to be recalibrated, unless you want super accuracy. It's a spoke wrench after all and not used in a critical application.

The criteria is to get all the spokes the same tension so you alleviate stresses that could allow the wheel to get out of round.

Even if it is out by 3 pounds, as long as all the spokes are the same you are good.

You could do a rough calibration by torquing against another good quality torque wrench in a store and looking at the difference.
What is the difference in selecting "front" or "rear" when purchasing?
Gary B on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Don’t know. I think it has all spoke open wrench sizes you need. Check your spokes and check that this has sizes you want. Works great. Use it all the time
Will this work on heavy duty spokes? Spoke nipple measures 7mm with digital caliper? I bought a regular spoke wrench, forgetting I have heavy duty forks on my bike, and that spoke wrench was way too small. Thnx
Kim E on Nov 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It's the spoke Nipple that the wrench has to fit. If the kits size doesn't match, a separate nipple wrench head can be bought to fit.

Look at supplied nipples to determine if it has size needed
Hi , I’ve just bought the Tusk Impact wheel set for KTM SX-F 450 and does it work for this set of wheels ?
Ivaylo O on Sep 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I believe it would. I bought a Tusk wheel set for my KTM and it worked. With the different size attachments it should work on most wheels.
Will this work on both my sons 17 ktm85 and 18 Ktm 65?
Scott on Nov 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would think so as it comes with several sizes of heads for different spokes. It works very well.
The printed instructions indicate how to set the wrench to 85 FT-Lbs. The wrench however is stamped In.lb. My manual states to torque the spikes at 4.5 lb-ft. So what is it that I do? Is the wrench correct? Or are the instructions which have conversions listed in Lb-ft?
Clay H on Oct 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Multiply ft-lbs by 12 to get inch-lbs
Will this work on a Tt-r 230 ?
A shopper on Jun 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes, it will work on most all spoked moto wheels. other size wrench tips are available separately if needed.
Can someone tell me how much to torque the spokes to on my 2014 yz250f?
Shane C on Feb 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Shane,
You should be able to refer to your manual to get the spec. I found mine there.
Will this fit my yz250f , also my torque is 1.8 ft lbs (21.6 inch lbs) how do I set 21.6 inch lbs?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Check your owners manual for the size of the spoke nipple of your bike. The Tusk torque wrench comes with a variety of sizes and others can be bought individually from RM ATV/MC if the kit does not have them but it probably does, because it has the most commonly used sizes. The torque of 21.6 inch lbs you stated for your bike is below the capacity of this wrench. The Tusk torque wrench starts at 30 inch lbs. and tops out at 150 inch lbs. Maybe there is another spoke torque wrench that RM ATV/MC offers that will meet your requirements.
Are other 'head' adapters sizes available?
darin h on Dec 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't think so. I checked RM website could not find any other adapters for the tusk wrench. If you have spline spoke nipples you can get that adapter for the faast torque wrench. Works great on my Husky and Suzuki's . Hope this helps.
How can I get additional head sizes as well as Excel spline type?
Kurt S on Apr 2, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The part number for the replacement heads is : 163564
My 2020 KTM 300 XC-W TPI user manual shows M4.5 for nipple size. However, the Tusk spoke torque wrench image shown for that bike does NOT include M4.5. How will I know the kit I order will have the correct size attachments?
A shopper on Jan 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This kit only comes with 6.1mm, 6.3mm, 6.6mm, 6.8mm, 6.9mm heads.

If Torx that is star shaped then no.

Ric B on Aug 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Its only made for spoke sizes.
Are the fittings sold separate as well is there any smaller fittings available to buy to fit this wrench?
Wade F on Aug 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can buy the fittings separately. I will post a like that goes directly to the part, but make sure to select which size you want in the "Size" drop down menu.
