Well made. Bought it to upgrade from my old Fox Airframe. I tried an A-Stars A10 first because it looked like it would be cooler. Unfortunately it did not work with my new 6.5 GPX neck brace. The Leatt works well with the brace (as it should) with the exception that it does not hold the brace in place so I still have to use the straps. Like some others have said, I wish it was a little bit longer in front but it seems to be about average length and I am 6’1”. If you wear a Leatt brace, this chest deflector is an excellent choice and even if you don’t it is still a great choice.
This product offers great protection. The ability to fine tune the adjustments is great. This guard fit snug and i didnt even realize i was wearing it. I took a few spills on my first use and didnt even feel the impact. I would highly recommend any Leatt protection devices!
I've tried a few other roost deflectors (Thor quadrant, EVS) but decided that at my age, my ribs could use a bit more protection - they seem to be more easily hurt and take longer to heal than when I was younger. This protector fit the bill, and it is quite comfortable. I suppose the 5.5 would offer even more protection, but may get rather hot. I haven't worn this one in really hot weather yet, but so far it has been very comfortable. I will say that I could have bought a size larger (I'm a bit over 210 lbs and bought the adult size), but if I lose a few pounds over the riding season - a usually happens - it should be just right (it's useable now, but just slightly on the small side). I use it with a Leatt neck brace and they work perfectly together. I think that this is a good compromise for protection and comfort at a reasonable price for what it offers.
As a new off road rider I was looking to upgrade my TMS armor I bought on the cheap, as an entry level body armor/vest which worked surprisingly well deflecting and staying in place during a hand full of lower speed crashes. Unfortunately I broke 3 ribs during an event and decided to look for rib protection in my next armor piece. Not a lot out there offering this type of protection. I bought this leatt 4.5 pro knowing that, one: I could have went with the HD 5.5 pro but I thought that would be to hot and two: I knew the 4.5 pro didn't offer as much protection in the flank/ribs as the 5.5 HD pro. With that said I believe the flank protection in the 4.5 pro is overstated. Outside of this matter the 4.5 pro feels sturdy and the shoulder cups seem as though they will work fine. Leatt is a reputable company and I have hi hopes for this price as I'm sure to do some soil sampling soon. I'll do a review in a few months as to how this armor (4.5 pro) held up. One more thing I'll have to buy elbow protectors now to go with this amor just a thought!

Not sure if it will help just throwing it in there!
I needed to replace my 25 year old JT chest protector and wanted something compatible with my Leatt GPX 4.5 neck brace. Originally ordered the Leatt 5.5 Pro HD, but found it to be to difficult to put on and use with a neck brace, not to mention hot. The 4.5 Pro may not have as much protection but it is much more user friendly, easy to get on, fits perfectly with the 4.5 neck brace, and flows a lot more air. I raced with it for the first time this weekend and after putting it on for practice, I forgot it was there until time to take off my gear after the last moto.
This chest protector is top notch. I've went down a couple times while wearing it. The first time was on a very rocky trail where I landed directly on my shoulder and the shoulder cups did exactly what they were suppose to do. It also seems to breath quit well for such a padded chest protector.
My only complaint is I wish Leatt would make a small/medium & a large/xl in this chest protector. I'm a smaller dude at 140 lbs and the chest protector has a good amount of play in it, especially in the shoulders.
Does anybody wear a hydration pack with the 4.5 pro? It looks like backpack straps would sit right on top of the 4.5's adjustment straps. Has anyone found this to be uncomfortable after a day of riding?
