Short

Finally decided to retire my Alpine Tech 2 shorties and bought these. Not only are these boots light and comfortable they offer very impressive protection. To put it in a nutshell; a new Tusk Waypoint front tire and fresh asphalt sealer do not mix. Fortunately this was a 10 mph slide out with the bike pinning my right foot, and these boots didn't flinch. Walked away with only minor road rash and no foot injuries or a limp. Highly recommend.

Engineering is that art of compromise, as they say. Short ADV boots don't escape to this rule, as they have to to provide protection and convenience. These Belize Drystar are missing the mark by a bit, the protection is good (for a short boot) but the comfort and mostly convenience is lacking. Very stiff, hard sole, no forward flexing whatsoever (that would really help with switching gears or walking), and the closures are very ski-boots like. The construction looks solid and quality apparent, but at this price one can hope the quality is there ... Overall a good boot, but not a great value.

They fit very well. I've only worn them a few times. They are super stiff so maybe overtime they'll break in a little bit.

I'm not gonna lie, I got these for ease of putting them on and taking off; the boa system works well, though the wire cables flopping around when disengaged is kinda disconcerting. They have a wide toe box and the plethora of insert options should make most content fit-wise. The tread is hiking boot-like, and walking in them isn't terrible. I'm an 11 and they fit true to size.
