I bought these pants after an unfortunate spill on my dual sport. I wished I had these on that ride as I would have been better protected, especially with the slots for armor. These pants fit well. I usually wear a 32in waist but due to where these sit, I got a 34in. These are solid pants if you plan on riding in all conditions as the breathe decently but also hold up in cold, especially with layers. Probably not best for extreme cold or heat, but the vents help and so does the roominess for layers. While these don't come with armor, they at least have slots for them. I plan on adding hip armor, but would highly recommend knee braces over the knee armor depending on your riding style. While the knee armor helps, a knee brace will offer way more protection. My only complaint with these apart from not having them sooner would be belt loops. At some point the velcro will fail either due to age or being gunked up. Klim addressed this with the lower leg opening by having snaps if the velcro is gunked up, but nothing in the way of the waist.

Finally went for a ride with these MSR pants on. It was about 20 - 28 degrees (70 - 85 for Americans). Rain was forecast but it didn't happen. 350KM ride. about 150km on tarmac and 200km off road. Some nice slow technical stuff in there too. Here are my thoughts in no particular order. - The pants are warm. That comes with the territory when they are waterproof. At higher speeds it's fine. In the slow technical stuff they are certainly a lot warmer than my Klim Dakar pants. Then again, in these temps I would be happy in my Dakars, I may get wet but I won't get cold. - The venting works better than expected. To be fair, I wasn't expecting that much. The vents work better when sitting down. In a perfect world it would be the other way and they should be better when standing and working hard. FYI, if you unzip the hand warmer packets they vent even better. That leads me to my next point.... - The cargo pockets are good and bad. Good in that you can easily get in and out of them while riding. Bad in that they are not deep enough. So if you want your phone in there it will only fit at one angle (the wrong angle). - As for the comfort. They are actually pretty good. The high waist; you partially get used it and also the pants tend to just slip lower under your little man belly. i.e. they slide down. I am not fat. 5 feet 11 (178cm) and 170pounds (78kg). If you have a bouncy belly this high waist thing may be annoying. So, they slide down to under your little fat roll.... and at the knees they are snug. i.e. they fit over real knee guards. They fit perfectly. Not too snug. This does hold them up at the knees though. You do get some sag in the thigh area. As for practicality, this works. It' easy to swing a leg over your bike. There is no resistance to sitting or standing. i.e, it's comfy. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Not really. Leads to my next point. - The pants are just a little too busy in the thigh area. In-vents, out-vents, hand warmer pocket zip, rolled over cargo pocket and zip. It just makes them bunch up a bit. - Inside the pants, right where your buckles are for your boot, there is a gusset of waterproof material not mesh. Well done! Mesh always catches on the buckles and is a pain in the butt. If assuming that they are waterproof and have good durability then these are really a very good offering for the price. FWIW, my other pants are Klim Dakars and ADV spec Mongolia. These are not quite as comfy as the Dakar but better than the Mongolia. For temperature, these are warmer than the Dakar and about the same as the Mongolia (not waterproof). Oh, and one more thing, they are generous at the waist. I wear size 32 in every brand. I had to cinch these down a fair way. I could maybe even get away with a size smaller. Hey RockyMountianATVMC, if you are listening. Send me a pair of size 30 to try out! C'mon, you know you want to! Bloody good pant for their first go! Klim and Mosko watch out!

Great riding pants with functional pockets. I bought them for my duel sport rides and have worked great even in some colder temps riding in light snow conditions with thermals under. I would buy them again!

All good except the ratchet belt---so soft it is hard to adjust.
