Dunlop's vast championship experience and development expertise has been infused into the next generation of off-road tires: the Dunlop Geomax® AT81™. These Geomax tires offer more all-around performance plus higher levels of ruggedness for off-road racing and riding.
  • AT81 rear tread block shape and distribution plus DIRTuitive Grip Design (DGD) knobs help the tire penetrate down through the surface dirt for extra traction across a broad range of off-road applications.
  • Formulated high-wear-resistant rear tire compound offers enhanced chipping, tearing and wear appearance.
  • Geomax AT81 RC rear tire carcass features four nylon plies.
  • Lateral grooves on the shoulder knobs provide additional biting edges and also allow the knobs to be more flexible.
  • Rear center blocks are arranged in-line to provide a larger contact patch for maximum traction.
  • Dunlop's "plush pad" recess design between tread blocks enhances compliance for bump absorption and ride comfort.

Great tire
People get settled into all sorts of tires for various reasons. Ive found to really like this tire and will continue running it. Maybe there is a better tire out there, but Im happy with the tread life and I know what to expect as far as tire wear and its traction. Its tough and holds up to punishment. Great in the rocks and mud of KY/TN, and the deep sand of FL and MI.

I target 8 psi and run an ultra heavy duty tube

RC version. Perhaps better for desert rather than east coast.
I bought the RC version. It is a 4-ply with a hard rubber compound. There is a standard version with a softer compound that is a 2-ply but I figured that the soft compound would not last very long with me being an aggressive rider on a two stroke. I should have gone with the softer tire. The RC does well in most everything accept for silt covered rock faces and muddy uphills. Also if you ride like a crazy person than hitting the gas hard while turning and the rear of the bike will try to slide out from under you.

KTM 300 xc-w running 6 psi with Tubliss
Amazing traction over wet rocks, roots, and slick mud. This tire makes a great combination when used with Tubliss Gen 2.

Wider is better.
I ride a KTM 350 XCF-W. Diameter is I’mp for this motor. That’s why I chose the 120/90-18. The wider tire and smaller diameter has increased traction-plus stability. The AT81RC is awesome on Utah’s hard terrain.

How was this tire to install? I heard RC model was a nightmare.
Adam B on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you warm the tire up first and use plenty of bead lube, it is no problem. Laying the tire in warm sun shines is the best. Without that, I use one of my wife's old hair dryer, by pressing the end of it into the tire and turning it on warm. The hot air circulates inside the tire effectively heating the tire. Start the process when you are removing the old Tire from the rim and it will be nice and warm by the time you go to put it on.
What is the difference between the at81rc and just the at81?
Trey J on Dec 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: RC stands for Reinforced Construction which according to Dunlop means it is more durable and possibly less prone to flats. I ran the tire for a number of rides and then flipped it to get the sharp edge again and I will say it performed reasonably well. Did not compare it to the standard model and Dunlop had a rebate going so the price was good.
is this tire dot ?
rich k on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, this tires is offroad use only. You can run it on the street to connect trails but if you local authorities check for the DOT endorsement you need to find another option.
I just mounted this tire a few days ago and could not find a directional arrow. I was wondering if after the leading edges of the tread dull, can I reverse the rotation?
David on Nov 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is not a directional arrow on this tire as it is non directional. You can reverse the tire after the leading edge is worn a little, but it will decrease your braking performance.
