Details

The Tusk Recon Hybrid® tire combines the benefits of a soft, sticky trials tire with an off-road/motocross tire for optimal performance for single track and technical enduro use. The soft, gummy rubber compound hooks up and conforms to rocks and roots like a trials tire, but has a motocross inspired tread design to perform well in mud, sand, and aggressive cornering and braking. Another Hybrid feature is in the carcass; it is much softer than a standard off-road/motocross tire, but handles better than a trials tire to offer ideal impact absorption, traction, and protection through gnarly, technical terrain. The Recon hybrid® tire instills confidence in even the most technical conditions.
  • High-performance off-road Hybrid tire designed for technical single track and extreme enduro riding.
  • Soft, sticky rubber compound hooks up and conforms to rocks and roots like a trials tire, but has a motocross inspired tread design to perform well in mud, sand, and aggressive cornering and braking.
  • Carcass rigidity is much softer than a standard off-road/motocross tire but better handling than a trials tire to offer optimal impact absorption, traction, and protection through gnarly, technical terrain.
  • Rubber compound is not only soft and sticky, but has been formulated for maximum wear.
  • For maximum off-road performance, the Recon is not DOT compliant.

Tusk Recon Tire on my 2020 KTM 300 XC
I have about 6 hours so far on the Tusk Recon tire for my 2020 KTM 300 XC. I’m running it with the Gen 2 Tubliss system at about 7 Psi. The tire is amazing, especially considering the price point. Has lots of grip and is showing little signs of wear. I ride mainly single track...

Amazing Tire
I'm amazed at the hookup of this tire. I have about 12 hours of riding on it so far with tubeless at 7.5 - 8 psi.

I'm in Phoenix area so I ride desert mostly, but I did go ride up in northern AZ in the forest. In the forest the only issue I had was hooking up on a steep hill with tons of leaves that had fallen. I have a feeling no tire would have hooked up on the angle with the ground cover. In the desert rides the tire did great in rocks, mud, and hard pack. It rained just before 1 ride and I couldn't keep the front end down on hard acceleration. Didn't experience deflection issues. Didn't experience any slipping on rock formations that were wet.

Pretty happy overall with the tire and the price. I've used the Kenda Equilibrium and Sinko Cheater tires, but like this tire the best. It's soft and gummy which is great for single tracks. With the tubeless this tire sidewalls hold up well at the low PSI. Didn't feel much roll at 7.5 - 8 PSI at low or high speed corners.

Best tire I have ever had
Was skeptical at first but I got it on sale so what the heck. This is the best tire I have ever ran! Grip is unbelievable. Cleans itself out and it actually great in mud. Braking traction isn’t the greatest for some reason but not a huge issue. I think the softer lugs are rolling over instead of biting in is my theory, I’m not an scientist but I do know this tire GRIPS on pretty much everything and had given me more confidence on the trail and tight technical situations. I will definitely be buying another one when this one wears out. I am running it with a Tubliss at 5psi and have about 10hours of use on it and it still looks almost new with only the edge of the lugs showing wear and that’s with a quite a few miles on the asphalt.

Great Tire!
Was a little bit skeptical with the tire being alot cheaper but just like Tusk always does, it does not disappoint. Tire hooked great through some woods.Trails we rode were mostly hard packed with some thick mud. The tire did great in all areas!

good overall tire
I usually run the Motoz Arena Hybrid Gummy, but decided to give the Tusk Hybrid a try since it is half the price. I only have 2 rides on it so far, and the tread is about 20% gone. It has great traction over hard pack and rocky terrain. Very comparible to the Motoz. Not so good on loose, gravel roads. Even if this tire wears out faster than the Motoz, it's still a great buy. You can go through 2 of them for the same price as the Motoz Hybrid. I'll buy again.

Great tire for rooted rocky woods, and surprised me in the soft stuff!
I bought this tire for my Crf, I don't have a significant amount of time on it yet, but so far I love it. The bike is used primarily for racing harescrambles in western pa / eastern Ohio. One thing I will warn is that the 120/100-18 is very true to section size/circumference, it may be significantly larger than other manufacturers. Otherwise an awesome tire in atleast my experience. Also this is a hybrid not a dual sport tire, it is not for the road. I see a lot of negative reviews complaining about tread life and road riding it is not made for that so of course it will not last in those circumstances.

Awesome Tire
I usually ran Maxxis tires and switched to the Shinko 525 hybrid which was a great tire. I decided to try the Tusk Recon and can not believe how great this tire is. I ride in GA and it is great in rocks or red clay, dry dirt or mud. I have about 200 miles on the tire and the knobs are barely worn or rounded which is even more amazing. This is my new go to tire and all my riding buddies are going to try it the next time they get a tire.

Tusk recon 110/100/18
The tire is comparable with the shinko 525 which was the last tire I had on my 2003 ktm exc 250, I ride in northern California, mainly cow mountain, penny pines and lake pillsbury, everything around here is real loose shale, alot of hill climbs and road riding, the tire has good traction in the shale, not so much on the roads, im running with the tubliss system at 8 psi.

Can you use these with tubliss? Many off-road tires have ribs inside the tire making it difficult or impossible for the tubliss to seal.
Dan on Aug 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I installed with TUBLISS and it works great. At 8 PSI it had great traction and the sidewalls held their structure well.

How strong is the side wall. Can you run lower air pressure. Will it run flat?
Curt S on Oct 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The tire is amazing hooks almost anywhere. I’ve had it at 5psi with heavy tube. But normally run it around 9-11psi depending on conditions. I will definitely be buying again. And the wear is pretty amazing also.
My bike comes factory with a 100/100-18. Is it okay to go up to the 110/100-18 for this tire?
Elijah G on Feb 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I ride trails. I have the recon in the 120-100-18 and it’s been a great tire. I have five bikes in the garage and three have this tire on them.
So Vegas Romaniac has a pretty negative review on this tire, and states it changed the gearing on his bike in a bad way because the diameter is so much larger (120 / 18 tire) than other tires.... he demonstrates this with a string measures the diameter vs. other popular tires... can anyone else share feedback? any found the 110/ 18 to be too larger in diameter also
Douglas D on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I stuffed this tire ( with a Nitro mousse) into my '19 Kawasaki KLX140G play bike and and entered an event in New Hampshire. The 4.5 mile course was was all single track with slippery roots, rocks, and leaves. It was full of tight corners and short steep climbs and descents. I thought the tire worked awesome, particularly on the leafy root climbs, but I never got out of third gear! I never noticed it to effect the gearing.
Will this tire fit a 2013 CRF 250R? Or will it be too wide
ANDY H on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If you have enough room to put a 110 wide tire on your bike it will work, I know the width on your bike is a 100 . I can tell you this much it fits like a motocross style tire it’s not like a balloon like most trials tire and it does hook up. I’m happy with the tire for the short time of owning it.
If my tire is 140/80-18, is the 110/110-18 is okay for my bike ?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2020
BEST ANSWER: So the real question is what kind of riding are you doing this is an all around awesome tire for rocks, roots and tough Enduro
the numbers before the rim size indicates the width and heights not the circumference

so yes in short the tires will fit !!

Ride on !!
