Details

The Tusk Recon Hybrid tire combines the benefits of a soft, sticky trials tire with an off-road/motocross tire for optimal performance for single track and technical enduro use. The soft, gummy rubber compound hooks up and conforms to rocks and roots like a trials tire, but has a motocross inspired tread design to perform well in mud, sand, and aggressive cornering and braking. Another Hybrid feature is in the carcass; it is much softer than a standard off-road/motocross tire, but handles better than a trials tire to offer ideal impact absorption, traction, and protection through gnarly, technical terrain. The Recon hybrid tire instills confidence in even the most technical conditions.
  • High-performance off-road Hybrid tire designed for technical single track and extreme enduro riding.
  • Soft, sticky rubber compound hooks up and conforms to rocks and roots like a trials tire, but has a motocross inspired tread design to perform well in mud, sand, and aggressive cornering and braking.
  • Carcass rigidity is much softer than a standard off-road/motocross tire but better handling than a trials tire to offer optimal impact absorption, traction, and protection through gnarly, technical terrain.
  • Rubber compound is not only soft and sticky, but has been formulated for maximum wear.
  • For maximum off-road performance, the Recon is not DOT compliant.

Tusk recon holds on a 450
Tires so far has worked great riding in rocky rooty single track in Oregon. Have around 90-100 miles on it seems to be holding up very well on my yz450 now I’m just waiting for a front to come out. It’s been working and holding up good enough that a few of my riding buddy’s have bought them. You can’t beat the price for what you get another good quality item from tusk

Impressive tire for the price
Wanted to try it out , and put it through its paces partially out of its element. Used it brand new in a desert race the course had a wide variety of terrain so I got a good test on where it excels and not so much. On hard pack, rocky climbs, wet slippery rocks, and damp soil the tire performs well. In the loose dry dirt, moon dust and deeper sand it struggles for traction. Over all I'm impressed with the tire especially for the price

Holy Smokes!
This is a big, bad, beefy tire! It likes wet aspen logs, roots and other gnarly stuff. I don't have a ton of hours on it yet, but so far it's been really good and the price was great too. Check it out.

Great tire
Actually a really good tire. It has good traction where I live which is roots and rocks. I have about 20 hours on it and it looks brand new. My only gripe with this tire is with the tubliss system it’s very picky with psi. But I think its my bike setup

Great for New England woods
Usually we use the MT-16 as the go-to tire for our racing in New England. We decided to try this Recon for the price...why not? It sticks like glue to the rocks and roots and seems to last pretty well too. We are running this with a Nitro-mousse.

Great Value!!
Like a Shinko 505 just seems a little more aggressive and it's cheaper. Running it with Tubliss at 6 psi. Traction was only OK until I went down to 6 psi then it worked great! Like it more than some of the really high dollar tires. Just put it on so we'll see about tread life?

Great tire for the price!!
Used this tire for my first XC race and it has amazing grip and didnt get clogged up with mud. Highly recommend. It is a softer tire so it wont last forever but thats the trade off.

Can you use these with tubliss? Many off-road tires have ribs inside the tire making it difficult or impossible for the tubliss to seal.
Daniel T on Aug 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I installed with TUBLISS and it works great. At 8 PSI it had great traction and the sidewalls held their structure well.

What's the durometer number for the hardness of this tire?
Cade S on Aug 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Durometer is around 60.
How strong is the side wall. Can you run lower air pressure. Will it run flat?
Curt S on Oct 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The tire is amazing hooks almost anywhere. I’ve had it at 5psi with heavy tube. But normally run it around 9-11psi depending on conditions. I will definitely be buying again. And the wear is pretty amazing also.
So Vegas Romaniac has a pretty negative review on this tire, and states it changed the gearing on his bike in a bad way because the diameter is so much larger (120 / 18 tire) than other tires.... he demonstrates this with a string measures the diameter vs. other popular tires... can anyone else share feedback? any found the 110/ 18 to be too larger in diameter also
Douglas D on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I stuffed this tire ( with a Nitro mousse) into my '19 Kawasaki KLX140G play bike and and entered an event in New Hampshire. The 4.5 mile course was was all single track with slippery roots, rocks, and leaves. It was full of tight corners and short steep climbs and descents. I thought the tire worked awesome, particularly on the leafy root climbs, but I never got out of third gear! I never noticed it to effect the gearing.
Will this tire fit a 2013 CRF 250R? Or will it be too wide
ANDY H on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If you have enough room to put a 110 wide tire on your bike it will work, I know the width on your bike is a 100 . I can tell you this much it fits like a motocross style tire it’s not like a balloon like most trials tire and it does hook up. I’m happy with the tire for the short time of owning it.
width of the 110 90 19?
A shopper on Oct 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: From what I have from side knob to side knob is about 14 cm. Sidewall to sidewall is about 12cm and 4.5 cm tall. Keep in mind I have riden with tubliss with low pressures so it has flattened it self out.
