SW-MOTECH’s Crash Bars Engine Guards are built for the rider wanting protection for crucial parts while saving both weight and space. To do this, SW-MOTECH makes their bars from powder coated mild steel tubing that is precision bent to fit your specific bike even if you have other aftermarket add-ons.

With these considerations the SW-MOTECH Crash Bars will give you confidence while protecting your bike’s crucial components.

      Specs:

    • SW-MOTECH crash bars are designed to provide maximum protection, optical integration, and high-quality fit and finish

    Buyer Beware
I bought this set of crash bars for my Kl650 2005. I have ricochet skid plate. the listing says these bars are compatible with the ricochet skid plate. However, as seen in my picture, I had to modify it to fit. the bolt holes lined up and the fit and finish is good. but the spacing for the skid plate didn't exist. its touching the opposite side shown and i had to my skid plate to make room. also, my fuel shutoff barely has enough space to move. plus, the access to the doohickey is almost blocked.

In conclusion, make SURE you check the fit before trying to mount it.

Very high quality, great protection. Fitment could be better
Very high quality, seems like they will hold up well with great protection. Fitment was the only down fall, took a few rachet straps to bend on one side so the holes would line up. Fitment made the installation difficult but I would buy again

Install these before heading off road.
Easy to follow instructions and the bars are a great compliment ti the bike. I've scratched up the bars abit, but saved $$$$ in the cost of plastics. I wouldn't take the bike off road without them.

These crash bars look really good on the bike. They were fairly easy to install. The instructions were very easy to understand and have good illustrations. Rocky mnt.shipped them quickly.

Good fit, solid, seem well built, great looking addition to my 2017 KLR 650.
SW Motech crash bars were easy enough to install. The only issue I had was my skid plate does not fit. So I will have to invest in a new skid plate. The bars look great and seem solid. Hopefully I will never have to test them.

Well Worth The Money! Took 45mins to install
I couldn’t decide between these or the Tusk crash bars but after reading some reviews about the Tusk ones vibrating at high speed I went with these. They look sleek and protect way better than I thought. Couldn’t be happier!

    Great crash bars
I bought these for my Gen1 KLR 650. They shipped promptly, and arrived in fine condition. Installation was easy. The only difficulty was a tight threaded hole in the KLR frame, which required running a tap through before the mounting bolt would go in without binding.

During the first ride after installation, and paying attention to it, I noticed some vibration in the foot pegs at 2100 rpm, however, I don't notice it during normal riding. I have since attached a tool tube to the front of the crash bars, and whatever vibration may be there, seems even more attenuated.

I have not crashed the bike yet, but laying it down in the grass it comes to rest nicely on the crash bars, with them taking on all the weight.

Has anyone experienced any vibration from the crash bars?
    Jordan w on Jul 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The are like they are not even there, no vibrations on my KLR650. They have saved me two times. Once in Beartooth (sept 16) on a back path when I tipped over and once outside of Glacier Park South of Polebridge (Oct 16) when I hit a deer at 60+ on the gravel road heading back to the campground. All ok locals got my bike and me up and running and on my way again! These are the best things since sliced bread!
will these fit with a Happy Trails KLR650 Skid Plate on a 2018 klr ? thank you
    Patrick D on Nov 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. KLR model is unchanged for several years except colors an Grapghic
Are these crash bars compatible with a Happy Trails skid plate?
    George A on Jun 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The SW-Motech bars run along the outside of the skid plate. I think it would depend on how far out and back the HT skid plate runs. I have not noticed other KLRs with both HT plates and SW-Motech bars before so this might be a question asked on some of the KLR Facebook Groups.
I need the lower mounting bracket, Rubber gasket and bolts. I guess they rattled loose over the years and I can't find them anywhere. For a gen2 Klr 650. Where can I get them?
    Kyle E on Apr 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: the guys at Rocky mountain should be able to order parts for you. Are sure of the brand ? might want to send a picture with your inquiry
I see that others have said that this works with the SW-Motech crash bars, But I noticed that they both are Gen 2's. I believe the crash bars are different across the generations.
Is this plate compatible with a Gen 1 (2002) and the SW-Motech crash bars?

Will these work with enduro engineering skid plate?
    Larry M on Feb 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: These would only be compatible with SW-MOTECH Skid Plates.
Can these be installed if my first generation KLR650 has the FMF exhaust with a power bomb header? Holding the crash bar up to check bolt placement, it appears the crash bars will be hitting the header and not align properly in the front.
    Rowdy K on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Working well on my 2nd gen stock exhaust. One drop on pavement. No damage. They no longer come equipped with any holes for lights or highway pegs though.
Will these fit with the IMS 6.0 gal tank?
    Larry L on Sep 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are a tight fit on the stock KLR tank, I do recommend them as that they are sturdy, I went down on a logging road and they did not bend.
When fitting them to the frame it's easier to have the tank and side trim off the bike and they may be a bit of a challenge for exact fit, one bolt that was supplied didn't fit on my frame. I wasn't long enough to go thru to the other side for the nut to secure it. I had to use the weight of the bike to get them to line up on all the bolt holes, but once on they are firm.
How weight do they add to the KLR?
    ned w on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: About 16 pounds for the set.
