Details

In the realm of dual-sport based helmets, Bell’s MX-9 Adventure Helmet is the stand out option for pure dirt riders that’re looking to transition onto the street.

With massive ventilation, aggressive styling, anti-microbial / washable lining, and a light 3.6 pound weight, the MX-9 is definitely biased more towards demanding off-road riding instead of one hundred percent hard-top rides.

The polycarbonate shell is borrowed from the motocross oriented MX-9, but for the MX-9 Adventure the chin bar has been brought in closer to the mouth, a flip down visor has been added, and the new adjustable peak can be removed with two quick thumb screws.

All in all the Bell MX-9 Adventure Helmet’s features and abilities make it a great mid-priced option that excels on dirt but still handles itself well on the pavement.

    Specs:
  • Lightweight polycarbonate shell.
  • DOT and ECE approved.
  • Bell's Flying Bridge Visor is easily adjusted with two hand-in-glove adjustable QuickFlip screws that firmly hold the visor in place.
  • The Bell MX-9 Adventure Helmet features removable and washable X-Static silver-lined Extended Wear interior.
  • Bell's Velocity Flow Ventilation System literally pulls air through the helmet, keeping you cool and comfortable.
  • Integrated Face Shield.
  • Velocity-flow ventilation system for cooling and comfort.
  • Moisture wicking, removable/washable air channeled comfort liner.
  • EPS-lined chinbar.
  • Adjustable mouth vent.
  • Padded chin strap with D-ring closure and strap keeper.
  • Industry-leading Five-year warranty.
  • Bell's magnetic cheek pad system allows for easy helmet removal in emergency situations. Used in conjunction with the Eject Helmet Removal System the two features allow First Responders to gently remove the helmet from a rider's head, reducing the potential for secondary neck or spine injuries.
  • For proper fit and size measure the circumference of your head 1" above your eyebrows and around the largest portion of the back of your head.

Solid Helmet
A bit noisy, but overall a good solid helmet. I do wish that it came with the smoke visor that is in the photo.

Love this helmet!
I recently switched from a Street only bike to a dual sport and wanted more out of a helmet for airflow than my Arai Signet X...wasn’t sure if I’d like this MX9 being a budget oriented helmet....but man this thing is so good for the price! I generally use ear plugs for long distance etc and it definitely needs it if you plan on being 70mph+. My only gripe is the peak, I wish it was adjustable for low sunsets etc. other than that definitely worth $200...or $160 on clearance, WOOOOT!

Nice Helmet for the Price
Fits bvery well. Comfortable. Ventilation is not great. Condensation on the shield in colder and wet weather. Would buy it again.

Great value for money
I purchased this helmet for a 2 week long offroad ride and it excelled at its job as we had some extremely cold mornings to contend with and having a full screen worked wonders. Best DS helmet I've had.

Great quality and fit, a rare true XXL
I wear an XXL helmet, and I've found that many brands these days don't actually make a true XXL, and that the internal shape is wildly inconsistent. Anyway, as a point of reference for my melon-headed brethren, this helmet is pure luxury inside, and fits just like my XXL Shoei Qwest. So glad I finally found a dual-sport helmet that fits! The MX-9 has noticeably more room in front of the jaw than any other helmet I've tried, so it might be a good choice for claustrophobic folks. Like any other dual-sport helmet, the "peak" yanks your head around a bit at speeds above 70mph, but it's tolerable. If you don't like this, the helmet comes with the hardware to remove the peak temporarily. My only "knocks" against the helmet are minor -- there are three shield detents, but not a good "cracked open" position to help defog the shield while keeping some protection. It's open about halfway, about 2/3, and "wide open" it's completely out of the way. The other knock is that the helmet isn't particularly sunglasses friendly -- it's difficult to push glasses back to your ears. That said, after a couple of days of use this is getting better -- I think my sunglasses are creating a little channel in the padding. Also, I'd love to see some added colors or graphics become available.

Great product for the price
This helmet is great for me while riding my Drz400sm on the road. It fits nice and has a removable visor if you need to hit some higher freeway or highway speeds. Love the design too.

Great quality at a great price
I'm impressed with the quality of this helmet at this price. QC seems to be really good. The only thing I wish was different is the vision locking positions. For me, it has to be all the way open or all the way closed. The other two locations seem to put the edge of the visor in my line of sight. This isn't a big deal, at all, though.

The photo for the raid orange color looks like it has a tinted visor. Will it come tinted or clear? I want clear. Thanks.
Chris D on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Comes with Clear. A variety of tinted shields are available for additional cost. I purchased tinted and love it.
How is the road noise, build, and internal shape compared to a fly trekker?
Braeden P on Sep 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I dont know the fly trekker other than a quick grab at a moto shop. The bell is a good choice for the money. It has some road noise but I have done 10 hour plus days and been comfy. Keep in mind the vents require tape in the winter months as it does not have a way to close them. As for the build...It is a durable helmet and mine has taken 9k miles and a couple of spills and has more life to it. The lens scratch easy compared to some of the high end helmets but for the money this helmet has done me great. Best of luck!
