Are ATV handguards important? Yes! If you do any amount of trail riding, you know how it is to have little branches flicking your knuckles and brake levers. And if you enjoy racing or simply riding with others, you know what it’s like to be constantly bombarded with roost. Not only are both of these annoying, but they can also begin to cause real pain. And under the wrong circumstances, they can even be unsafe if it causes serious problems with your brake levers.
Don’t let the branches or roost win. Get handguards instead. You’ll be amazed at how much you like them. And if you need something that can take a real impact, make sure you get bark busters. While all handguards are designed with high quality plastics to ward off twigs and small branches, some (affectionately called “bark busters”) also include a metal bar to withstand larger objects. Get whatever is appropriate for your riding habits.
At Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, we stock a variety of handguard brands:
Each brand offers several different options, so you’ve got plenty of choices when looking for handguards to fit your quad.
Aside from trail protection, you’ll also find a few ATV hand warmers here as well. These are special handguards that are designed more as protection against the cold winter weather than they are against branches on trails.
Take a look at the ATV handguards on the page to see what interests you. With such a variety of styles, colors and designs, you’re sure to find the perfect match for you.

These are a no brainer if you ride woods, or places where things hit your hands. I use Cycra hand guards, but I still would get hit on the hand with the occasional tree branches or shrubs. Ouch! These add a lot more protection, and now I rarely get hand hits. They are also great for cold weather riding as they direct the airflow around your hands, keeping them much warmer. I don't use heated grips, and I ride year round, so this is important for me. They install with pop rivets, and probably fit most hand guards out there.Read All Reviews

These lever are built very well but with stock length levers they will not work. The clutch lever actually hits the guard and pushes the lever in. I have the Renthal Intellilevers which i was told would be shorter but there not. You have to buy shorter levers or cut your stock one for these to work. Hope this helps.Read All Reviews
