The Dunlop D803GP Trials Tire is a great all around performer that works for riders of every level that want the exceptional grip and predictability of a trials tire. By using a silica blended compound and a revised carcass as its foundation, the D803GP has solid traction in most conditions and a tread lifespan that’s comparable to other options.

The revised carcass structure also gives you a bit more impact absorption, but it’s not overly stiff, so the handling and slide control of the tire is still well above average. Because the Dunlop D803GP Trials Tire has such a solid, traditional trials design, it works really well for the times you want a sticky, properly handling trials tire without spending as much money as some of the other well-known offerings.

    Specs:
  • Significantly improved performance for both professionals and trial enthusiasts
  • Silica blended compound with a revised carcass architecture
  • Predictable slide control and improved shock absorption
  • High grip levels in wet or cold conditions
  • Faster turning response
  • NOTE: The rear D803GP tire is a radial tire

Tire
These tires are very durable in the rocky terrain we ride.
They grip well in the mud we are running very low pressure this time of year in the muddy conditions. These tires track well and seem to be wearing very well. We ride on mostly rocky creek beds and off camber slick hillsides they hook up well.

Best Value In Trials Competition
I'm a competitive trials rider, 13+ events a year. I've gone back and forth between these and the Michelin X-Light for a while. At 2/3 the price of an X-light these are one of the best tire values in trials. At their cost, one can replace more frequently and keep fresh rubber.

trials tire
I use this on the front of my trials bike. Works great and is priced better that a Michelin trials tire.

Good tires for a noob trials rider
No complaints from a new trials rider on a 2017 GasGas 250. The rear is getting a little chewed up by rocky terrain.

I have more traction loss from the front, pushing in dry dirt and sand when making tight turns. The rear generally hooks up everywhere and rarely spins.

Best off Northeast Tire You Can Buy
I ride in Northern NJ rocky hard single track trails, this tire is the best. The traction and shock absorption is second to none. I was not a believer till a few years ago now I will not use anything else. Try it once and you'll understand and you'll ride even faster never getting stuck on hills. Hell my rim lock can barely hold the tire from spinning on the rim!!!.

Can I use the nuetech system with this tire?
Brad C on Apr 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, Brad. I use the Tubliss system on all my bikes (front & rear), and most of the time I run the Dunlop D803GP trials tire on the rear and it works fine. One note/caveat: this tire has pretty thick ribs along the inside of its carcass including where it meets/seals with the Tubliss, so I always use Slime instead of soapy water during the install and then also add 8 oz. of slime inside the tire.
Does it weir is will as a Pirelli ?
A shopper on Feb 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Dunlop D803GP is a much softer tire that Pirelli MT43, so it will grip the terrain much better when run with low tire pressures such as 5-7 psi front and 4-5 psi rear on a Trials Bike. Essentially, the Dunlop D803GP is a top quality Trials tire (very similar to Michelin) for a very reasonable price. If bashing through the woods on a 200+ pound Woods bike, then the Pirelli MT43 Rear "Trials" tire is a better choice with stiffer sidewall.
How will this tire handle in the very wet/muddy conditions of the Pacific Northwest trails during the rainy months? I need something to grip the wet rocks/roots but won't leave me unable to climb muddy hills
Nathan F on Oct 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This tire is awesome in hard pack as in roots, rocks and glazed mud. The kind of mud that doesn't rut just very slick on top. I live in TN, and always rocks, roots and mud. It is still better than any knobby tire even in deep mud. I would choose one of these without any tread on it versus a new knobby tire. Best tire I ever used, I will never run a knobby tire again. This tire also worked very good in caineville Utah in the loose deep sand.
Can I run this tire with a heavy duty tube since it says tubeless?
Alex L on Oct 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Have done it before (stuck a tube in a tubeless tire). You will have the hassle of mounting the tire w/out damaging the tube, and if you are on a tubeless rim you will have issues carrying low tire pressure if you don't have a rim/tire-lock to prevent slippage between the rim and tire which will break the tube stem.
