Dunlop Geomax Tires - MX32 & MX52

RM YouTube Channel

Details

Dunlop has a long history of successfully providing dirt bike tires that riders everywhere love. The Geomax® MX52™ tires are unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Imagine a motorcycle tire that has methodically evolved through some of the most intense research, development and testing. How intense? Think about the most demanding riders of all – pro-level motocross and supercross champions. Professional tracks have been this tire’s proving grounds. And now Dunlop has finally released it for the consumer. But it doesn’t just have the ideal features of top-of-the-line racing tires; it is also available at a price that is within the everyday rider’s budget.

Don’t let the Geomax MX52’s past as a racing tire fool you though. Not only does it exhibit a performance beyond most other tires, it also is built with a long-lasting rubber compound. This allows it to endure the harshest of rides over and over again. The MX 52 tire really shines on intermediate-to-hard terrain. So whether you find yourself racing on a well-used track or trekking through backcountry trails, you’ll love it.

Dunlop’s improved technology is patented, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t revealed its secrets. For example, the Progressive Cornering Block Technology (PCBT) – better known as block-within-a-block – is an innovative new design that revolutionizes tire tread. One knob nearly surrounds another knob. It may be unusual, but the improved cornering you’ll achieve as a result will convince you of its effectiveness.

Other elements of the tread have been altered from traditional designs as well. For example, the knobs running along the middle of the rear tire are placed asymmetrically. This allows the tire’s load to be more evenly distributed. If you want more damping and stability out of your tires (especially in the whoops), you’re going to love this feature. Only Dunlop would develop a design that so boldly challenges the existing system. And it impressively succeeds.

Want to learn more about the MX 52? Take a look at these impressive stats:

    REAR DUNLOP GEOMAX MX52 TECHNOLOGY:
  • Progressive Cornering Block Technology (PCBT): This is a Dunlop-patented block-within-a-block design that offers more progressive cornering action and aids in slide control.
  • Enhanced Carcass Tension Control System (CTCS): Tuned carcass flexibility from recesses placed strategically along the tire carcass helps smooth ride characteristics and allows the motorcycle to follow a line more accurately.
  • Controlled-rebound Rubber Element in the Sidewall: This construction helps to damp out bounce, acting as a suspension component within the tire so that it can better follow the track surface.
  • Staggered Distribution of Center Blocks: This spreads the load on the tire and helps with impact damping and stability, especially in whoops and hard-pack conditions.

    FRONT DUNLOP GEOMAX MX52 TECHNOLOGY:
  • New Directional Tread Pattern: This offers great traction and steering feel for a wide range of riders who have differing riding styles.
  • Enhanced Carcass Tension Control System (CTCS): Tuned carcass flexibility offers enhanced feel and steering accuracy.
  • Unique Tread Block Distribution: Knob design, pattern and construction are optimized to work in one direction, which provides advantages in feel and traction.

Of course, nothing is more convincing than experiencing the tires for yourself. Pick up a set of new Dunlop Geomax MX52 tires today. You’ll discover why so many are raving that it’s the best off-road tire ever made.

Not too satisfied with front tire
Front tire didn't last long in desert riding, less than 1 season 500-600 miles, some rocky but more hard/soft dirt riding. The side nobbies had cracks at the base of them.

Intermediate terrain tire
I liked the tire until the outer knobs all cracked and/or tore off. Partly my fault as I like to ride at 12 psi front and rear. But i havent had a tire lose the knobs this fast but it gripped well and handled well. The knobs all have great life left as they are long/tall still. I run a ultra thick tube to prevent flats. 0 flats!

Impressive
Very satisfied with the way these tires gripped and ripped the dirt up. Had a very great handle riding and was very impressed with how much traction I was getting compared to the set I owned.

Pretty Meh for what you pay for
I'd say that while this tire isn't very great, it's still better than the old 51's than Dunlop made.

The tread life is pretty great but it doesn't make up for how easily the rear end slides when it starts to wear. This tire is pretty soft relative to the other intermediates and gets absolutely eaten alive by rocky trails.

Great tire for MX maybe not so much for enduro
The front 52 is way better than my last tire (maxxis maxxcross IT) has way better cornering. The rear slides predictably but after just 2 rides the leading edges are gone, and some side knobs are cut up / beginning to show signs of tearing.

One of my favorite tires new. Incredible consistent grip. The problem is I get about 10 hours out of it.

Does this tire take a tube?
A shopper on Jan 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. In fact it's a great idea to always put a fresh tube in on a tire change. Almost all off road and MX tires need a tube.

Daniel H on Jun 28, 2017

How "meaty" is the rear tire? I went with the Kenda Tracmaster last time and it was a trench digger.
Peter P on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Assuming you are talking about block height, 20/32" is the height of full size bike's rear tire. It vary by tire size, see dunlop's web site.
