    Do not buy this boot
Insoles ride up right away. Toe cap came loose after two rides. Icing on the cake...Wishbone fell apart in less than 20 hours, and would be easy to replace yourself EXCEPT THE SG11 IS A DISCONTINUED BOOT, and you won't be able to find replacement parts like the wishbone I need to fix it.

    Sg11s great performing boot.
These are the first pair of gaerne boots I have owned.
My first impression after trying them on was far from positive. Contrary to other reviews these boots were not comfortable. The left boot was decent. The right boot was not. Pressure on the bottom of my foot was uneven. Contact points were on the outsides of my foot as well as the right boot has more upward arch in the toe area than the left boot. I literally wore them for about an hour indoors and contemplated sending them back due to discomfort. They aren't too small, they just have a lot of uncomfortable pressure points when new.
After riding in them I really liked how much support they have and how easy it is to ride on the balls of my feet. With other boots I have to remind myself to stand on the balls of my feet. With the sg11s proper foot placement on the pegs comes very naturally.
The first 3 rides my feet were still uncomfortable and I had to take them off when not riding.
Today was my 4th ride with them. Although they weren't the most comfortable when I first put them on, I didn't notice it at all once riding and I wasn't in a rush to take them off when I was done. Although they are a stiff boot, they are starting to loosen up and the pressure points are starting to even out.
I was surprised at how much I had to adjust my brake pedal up. More than 3/8". The toe box is angled up much more than I am used to. But I am beginning to like how my feet are placed on the pegs. Performance and protection wise I have no complaints.
What I don't like is that my feet push to the front of the boots. I have tightened the upper buckles more which seems to hold my foot back more and keep my toes from hitting the front of the boot. This puts a little more pressure on my calves than I would like but they get more comfortable each time I ride in them.
Without shin/knee guards. I have very little extra room and the buckles are almost as loose as they can go. A heavy pant and shin guard will be next to impossible with theses boots. The plus side is that they are compact.

    Great Boots
After breaking a buckle on some old Fox Racing boots, i decided I would spend a little money and buy a nice pair. Very happy with these boots, fit great, the hinges on the sides allow the ankle to bend like it should.

I would recommend these to anyone!

    Started to Fall apart immediately
the right boot started breaking down after 5 rides. Look at the pic attached. The rubber material is now completely gone and it hasn't been a year of intermittent use yet. Gaerne would not do anything about this and said this is normal wear.

    gaerne sg-11s
love gaerne boots, the fit is great, although slightly bigger than others. been wearing sg-10s for years but the 11s seem to offer all the features of the 10s in a slightly lighter package.

I've had SG-12s and SG-11s and I can't tell a difference. Also, the website doesn't try to explain the differences so save your money

Not bad, just not good either
I really was most disappointed with comfort of these boots. I like Gaerne because i have found them to fit well. These just did not do it. I think that i should have gone for the 10s or the 12s.

Is the sizing in line with athletic shoes or more like dress shoe sizes? I wear a 13 running shoe and a 12 or 12.5 in a dress or leather shoe. Looking at the SG-10 or SG-11.

BEST ANSWER: I just purchased a pair with the same Delma . I went with the 12s and had to return them for 13s which fit great! Thanks Rocky Mountain for the great return policy. Hope that helps.
Right foot damaged in race (big toe).Used to wear size 13 but had to go to 14 for more room. Can i go back to 13 with these ?
    larry k on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Funny you should ask as I smashed the toe section of my right Gaerne into a embedded but hidden by grass rock destroying the metal protector and of course smashing my four toes (not the big toe). The ER in Sun Valley Idaho said it is a very common injury. The toe portion of the boot seemed fine as to its structural integrity but
I decided to go one-size up on a new set of Gaerne 12s plus always wear a thick sock. Am glad I did.
More comfortable-hopefully safer as I ride a lot of single-track in the mountains of Idaho where there are lots of hidden embedded rocks and cut-off little stumps that have nailed friends of mine also and sent them to the ER
    Are they waterproof?
    Paul H on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are to a point. A wet day riding you would be ok even a dozen dabs in some deeper water your feet will still be nice and dry. If you find yourself walking through a river for an extended length you might start to get a bit damp
I just purchased a pair of sg11's. The left boot feels great. Not a lot of extra room, but if I kick my heel then I have room in the toe area. I realize that standing upright slightly crowds the toe box area. When I bend my knees, like I would when riding, then they feel good.
The problem is the right boot puts a small amount of pressure on the top of my foot. I have worn them a few times indoors and I believe they will loosen up a little and the footbed will settle enough to relieve the pressure. The problem is that this is the first pair of gearne boots I have owned. Once I ride with them I can't send them back.
My question is will they break in enough to be comfortable and relieve the small amount of pressure?
Other boots I have owned have loosened up a little. But the gearnes have more of a plastic shell and may not break in as much. Thanks
    Michael K on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My experience with Gaerne's is that they will loosen up a little bit. I had a pair of SG10's and when I bought new SG11's they felt much more snug even though I bought exactly the same size. The hinge system makes it so there's not much of a break-in period but the padding will break down a little after a few rides and will loosen up. Your other option is to try thinner socks. I usually run Fox Thick socks and occasionally I'll wear some thin Moose ones which makes the boot feel very empty.
whats the diffference between sg 10 and sg 11 ??
    BARRY K on Dec 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I had the sg 10 and now I have the sg 11. The sg 11 have a better ankle construction. They are a little stiffer feeling but they still have the same comfortable feeling right out of the box. The buckles are the same but I feel like they close at the top better
