  • Alpinestars Tech 5 Boots

    Alpinestar Tech 5

Fantastic boots! I bought these for my teenage son and he loves them. He is new to the Alpinestars brand MX boot. He says it is night and day the comfort and feel compared to his Gaerne boots. Break in period was quick and he says they are the most comfortable boot he has ever worn. Also he likes the latches better than other brand boots he has worn in the past.

  • Gaerne SG-12 Boots

    Martin in BC

Most protective and well made boot out there.

After breaking my foot clipping a boulder off road in my Tech-3s I wanted the most protective boot I could find. Being a size 14 there are limited options. Looked at Sidi Crossfire 3 TAs, Tech-10s and the SG12. After trying all of them the Gaerne's were by far the most protective and most supportive for me and they fit true to my size. Now done about 10 days of off-roading in them and they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The memory foam padding hugs the feet and absorbs regular knocks and impacts as does the sole. I have a long and narrow foot and I heard many people say they would be a wide fit but I didn't find that to be the case for me. They did take a while to get used to riding in as the shifter feel is a lot less than a A-stars boot but I soon adapted and now I don't notice it. Using the rear brake is still a bit of an adventure but a few more rides and I think I'll have adapted there too. Quality is top notch and after a few single track falls and pins they have suffered no damage and neither have my feet / shins. The only negative about these boots, other than the price, it that they are so noisy to walk around in, super squeeky! But that's the price you pay for the ultimate in protection. Unless their quality suddenly drop though moving manufacturing out of Italy I don't think I'll ever buy another brand or model of MX boot again and given how well made these are, I probably won't need to for many years.

    Best for the $$

Just did sections 1-3 of MABDR. Rode in rain, crossed streams, and even waded to fish in these boots. Stiff at first, but broke in fast. Best boot for the $$
