      SAFETY

Inspect and check tire pressure often. This is the most important tire-maintenance function you can perform. Refer to your machine's documentation for proper maintenance. Always give tires a gentle "run-in" period of 100 miles to get the feel of new tires--this means they should not be subjected to maximum power, abrupt lean-over, hard cornering, etc. Always match the front and rear tires for optimal handling, safety and performance. Mixing radials, or mixing radials with bias or belted-bias tires, may adversely affect handling and stability.

      WARNING

The charts and information on this page do not imply interchangeability. Consult your machine's manual to determine correct replacements, clearances, compatibility and stability, load-bearing capacity, speed rating, radial vs. non-radial, pattern and tread compound requirements, inflation recommendations and front-to-rear tire matching. Wrong selection can result in tire failure or loss of control with serious injury or death.

    • Michelin's Pilot Road CT Radial provides the best wet grip of any comparable sport touring motorcycle tire.
    • Longest mileage of any comparable sport touring motorcycle tire.
    • 3rd party testing shows the Pilot Road 2 has the longest mileage of any comparable sport touring motorcycle tire.
    • The only dual-compound motorcycle tire in the sport touring motorcycle segment.
    • Innovative front and rear motorcycle tire tread designs.
    • W-rated for speeds up to 168mph.

    Back to PR2's from PR4
I ran through a couple sets of PR2's, then 'upgraded' to PR4's on my last set. I found that I did not get the same tread life with PR4 tires. About 2000 fewer miles before hitting the wear bars.

The PR2 has awesome grip, wet or dry, and is a great value price wise. Newer generations of the Pilot Road tire may have more advanced tread patterns, but I really didn't notice any difference in traction (touring/twisties) compared to the PR2. So I'm back to using the earlier generation.
(It does appear that the PR2 I received was manufactured about 1.5 years ago. Hopefully they're still making them.)

Best tire for sport touring tread life and traction!
I've bought 3 of these front tires for my VFR800 and they give fantastic traction with unparalleled tread life! The first one lasted 14k miles and the two others were 22k and 18k! This is a VFR800 so only about a 100hp and the speedo reads miles at least 10% high like many bikes.

    Excellent Tire
I will say I bought these left over after buying them when they came out new a few years ago for my FJR 1300.
I personally like the II vs the newer 4. Like I said I had them when they came out a few years ago and they were great then as I'm sure they will be now.
The last set of these lasted me a 8000 rear and 10000 front. The 4's didn't last me this long so when I went looking for tires again I just happen to see if anybody had the 2's in stock and low and behold Rocky Mountain did at a good price.
Rocky Mountain has always done well for me in price and as quick as Amazon prime in shipping. Thank You Rocky Mountain......

    Good as it Gets
This is my 3rd Pilot Road 2 purchase. Anytime you can get an honest 10k plus on a tire, keep with it. I considered the PR4 which claims 20% more life than the PR3 but the PR3 did not last as long as the PR2 and the price is more than 20% more. ( Rocket Science ). Order shipped the same Day I ordered it and arrived the next, Again as good as it gets. I ride mostly for pleasure in the canyons but you do have to get there 1st. Everything just seems right and the way it should be with this tire.

Good Value for a Great Tire
Not the best tire in Michelin's Pilot Road Series, but a well balanced performer for the price. I've put over 35,000 miles on multiple sets of PR2's on my N1k, and consider myself a moderately spirited "Pace" rider. I tend to wear out both front and rear tires together, and have gotten between 7,000 to 8,500 miles out of a set of PR2's. Though other brands/models may provide better feel, grip, wet weather performance, or longevity, the Pilot Road 2 offers plenty of performance in those regards, that you don't feel as if you've sacrificed anything. Add in the fact that the PR2's are typically offered at a competitive price and you end up with incredible value.

    Amazing tire!!
Bought a set of these on a friend's recommendation- can't believe how good they are. Grip like crazy right out of the gate, and if I'm correct, I've done about 13000 miles on the first set. Wet traction is suffering/gone as the rear tire is past the wear bars, but prior was extremely confidence inspiring. Tires wore extremely evenly. Bike was used mostly for commuting on the super slab- 125 miles/day, so I needed a tire that lasted a while. This will be my second set and I can't see changing in the future.

What is the date code on these tires?
    Mark L on Feb 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We have many of these tires in stock and are unable to guarantee an exact date of the tire that is being shipped to you, especially since we have 2 warehouses that these tires would ship from. All the tires we sell are going to be in new condition and they are stored in a controlled environment so that they do not age.
