Details

The Motoz Mountain Hybrid Tire is a new concept for off-road tires that combines the traction of a trials tire and the handling of a serious off-road tire into one. It does this with a new tread design concept that works on a flexible tread concave and lock system, giving increased traction while avoiding punctures at low inflation pressures. The Motoz Mountain Hybrid tire climbs like a trials tire but handles corners, river crossings, sand and rocks like a regular DOT compliant off-road tire.

    Specs:
  • Handles like a traditional off-road tire
  • Grips like a trials tire
  • Reinforced sidewalls allow low tire pressure when riding.
  • DOT compliant.
  • Great wear life.
  • Reversible for more tread life
  • Each tread block has deep sipes for extra trails like grip

Better than the rear for me
Bought it because of the DOT rating and wanted to match the rear on my plated XR400.

Knobby like traction off road and feels just fine to me on the pavement. Like most knobbies once it hits a certain wear point it starts to go pretty quick if you ride a lot of road.

Very good tire for dual sport bikes good on the road and on intermediate to hard packed trails also good in the rocks and roots.
I have had the mountain hybrid front on my 19 ktm 500 exc for about 400 miles so far. I have had it in just about all types of terrain, in the mud and sand it isn't very good but it is tolerable, I'd say it is better in sand than in mud though. Where I've noticed that it's good is on intermediate to hard packed dirt roads and trails that I ride alot, the tire sticks great on the corners even at high speeds, no wash out. I also ride some single track and this tire is great on the rocks, roots and tight trails. Also does good in what I would say kind of mossy pine neadly type trails to. And the other major thing for me is it is good on the road and is dot, it is not washy or shaking like I thought it would be I will be purchasing another one next time around. I ride about 40% road and 60% off I would say. I cant really speak for tread life yet but 400 miles and still looks new.

Great tires
These tires stick like glue, pretty much to any terrain other than soupy mud. Great value and tread wear life. I have the moto z on the rear as well again a great combo for hard pack , tree roots, rocks, even hold up well on street rides from trail to camp.

Not for desert or riding in Moab
Was excited to try this tire after all the great reviews. Put it on and rode Cherry Creek, a dry/dusty/rocky area here in Utah. Did ok there but not superb. Went to Moab for a few days last weekend and took this tire off after day 1. Headshake at high speed in the sand, liked to understeer a bit, and bounced off the slickrock steps and ledges like nothing I have experienced. Replaced it with a Goldentyre that evening and rode the remaining three days in Moab. Problems went away and the new tire rode like it should. Its probably great for dirt roads and smoother terrain but not for the type of riding I do. I used a heave duty tube and played with air pressure, nothing helped. I have been very happy with the Goldentyre on the front and have used Dunlop Gemoax and Maxxiss tires with success in the past.

Great Tire for its intended purpose
I take a yearly trip to Colorado and ride almost exclusively rocky singletrack. I have 14 days of riding on this tire and I still have every single knob on the tire. I'm not a pro level rider, but I'm a local A class XC racer and I'm not that easy on the equipment. I'm impressed and won't run anything else on my yearly trip.

Mixed feelings
It's an ok tire pretty stiff to start running about 10psi with a heavy duty tube in it. Has a tendency to give a wash out or roll over feeling in the front end during fast cornering. Single track or woods riding though it has great traction. Time will tell how this tire does I've only had it on for a couple rides. It is a very hard compound tire for a hybrid tire I would have expected a softer rubber.

Has anyone used this tire? I have not been able to find any reviews for the front tire.
MIKE N on Jan 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mike! I have not rode this tire yet. There is still way to much snow in Idaho. I have put it on a KTM 300 xcw and really like the look of it and the tread design. I guess time we'll tell if it is a good trail tire or not. I am still a couple weeks out before I can hit the desert. Sorry for not being much help. I hope a ride well be here soon.
