A screaming bargain for vintage machines
These tires handle great, and they stick fantastically well in all conditions wet or dry. The only downside is that they're somewhat short-lived compared to far spendier options.

Since I don't put a ton of miles on my vintage bike, that's perfect -- I get to enjoy a new set of tires just about every year.

I also mount my own tires; if you're paying someone to mount yours, then the equation might change.

    Sinko 712
I bought this tire for my Kawasaki Triple, nice looking tire, sizing was good (they vary with different manufacturers) and initial riding experience is very good. Great value. I would by again.

Installed a 130/90/16 on an 883 Sportster. On this low horsepower machine I got 3600 miles out of this tire. New it measured 7/32nds, after 3600 miles it has 2/32nds to bald. A Shinko 230 or 777 would be a better choice which I learned from experience.

    A new 130/90/16 Shinko 230 measures 10/32nds, a Shinko 777 measures 11/32nds.

A little extra money buys an extra 1/4" of tread.

Can this tire be ran as a front tire? I have a 712 shinko on the rear and want to keep the same tread pattern?
    A shopper on Sep 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: A rear can be ran in the front yes, but the 712 does come in a front variety with essentially the same tread pattern.
can this tire be used with a tube?
    A shopper on May 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes - any tire can be used with a tube. The only rule is spoked wheels must use a tube (cannot be used in a tubeless application), as air will leak out around the spoke nipples (without a tube).
The Shinko is a good value tire and often the only, or best, choice for vintage or older motorcycle size applications. All my Shiko tires (and Kenda tires) are used with tubes on vintage/classic motorcycles and provide good service. Buy (either) with confidence.
