Fitment on 2003 KTM 300 EXC
In the past, I have had the IMS 3.2 gallon tanks. Those fit with no issues. However, this Clarke version was a royal PITA to fit. The petcock position needs to be turned 90 degrees to fit the hose easily to the carb. As is, the hose must bend very tightly. I tried several ideas, but finally used some Motion Pro hose I had that would make the bend without kinking. The next issue is fitment of the kick starter lever into the gap provided on the tank. Regardless of how I adjusted the lever position, it did not fit seamlessly. It works, but should be better designed for a seamless fit of the lever into the slot on the tank. Fitment of the seat once the tank is installed was another issue. I had to make adjustments to the seat brackets to get it to fit at the rear where the seat bolts go in. You'll note I made no evaluation of the durability. My tank came with what appears to be a gouge in the area where the petcock mounts. I check it for leaks with water, but had yet to put fuel in it or ride it with the tank. So, if that turns out to be a crack and leaks, I'll be sending this tank back for a refund and by an IMS instead.

    Great Tank
The Clarke fuel tank came quick and was easy to install (I'm not a mechanic just an average handyman).

    yamaha yz125, it's alright...
This gas tank did what it was made to do, ride longer! But this tank has some issues, ive been running mine over a year and you HAVE to REPLACE the petcock o'ring that seals the petcock to the tank... This tank is also quite bulky. It's not major, but you can deffently feel it compared to stock, I have a lot found that it is not balanced very well either.... very top-heavy instead of being more centered. This tank is very durable, Launched my bike 20 feet through the air hitting a jump wrong and held up good, also have had some gnarly wrecks in rocks and sagebrush and other and its help up pretty good.
it fits both stock plastics, cycra, and polisport plastics no problem...

If this tank was slimmer, and balanced better than I would give it a 5 out of 5 but since it has these issues, I give it 3 out of 5.
PS they need to add a reserve as a lot of fuel gets trapped on the right-hand side. There have been times where I literally needed to turn my fuel off, and lay my bike down and tip it to get the trapped fuel on the other side.....

    Fits great, easy install
One thing to note, the gasket they send to go between OE petcock and fitting spreads out and will cause a leak. I bought some extra nitrile rubber and made my own gasket--now it works. Cheapest price online for a 3.8 gallon tank for YZ250

Fit was good, looks good. Installed a YZ65/YZ85 petcock so the nipple was facing the carb.

Great tank! Tank fits great, looks great and adds a unique styling to my 2001Rm250. I only have one complaint: the gas cap split in two on me. Not a big deal (In my eyes)but the seal eventually gave way, causing a leak while riding. I Contacted Clarke and they sent a new one no questions asked! Great customer service/product! Takes a beating!

    Could be better
Tank looks good on my bike but can't stop it from leaking around the fuel pump. Where the pump bolts to the tank the plastic isn't thick enough to compress the o ring against it which causes it tow bow out between the bolts. I've had Clarke tanks in the past and never had issues with them before till now. At least this issue can be fixed with some sealant.

    -m-2011 YAMAHA YZ450F--
The bow can be seen in this picture. Should of been disigned a little thicker so this doesn't happen

When you ant to get way back there on the trails, you need to get an oversized tank. It does make getting to some parts on the bike a little tough. Not cheap, but worth it.

Does anyone know if you can still reach your spark plug with the tank on with the 3.1 desert tank?
    Kevin H on Sep 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: On my KDX220 I had to remove the desert tank to get the plug out. I would post a pic, but I don't own the bike any more. The tank takes about 2 minutes to install or remove, it being close to the spark plug wasn't a big deal. You can get to the spark plug. it just sits low and close to the wire, and won't let to unscrew it far enough.
Do I need any extra parts to install this on my 2001 CR125R, such as longer bolts, new petcock, or o-rings?
    Chris H on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: no, your stock petcock will interchange and so will everything else. the only diff will be the length of you fuel hose connecting tank to carb. great fit for an oversized tank
I have an issue! Current petcock valve on my bike is old and starting to leak from corrosion. Which petcock valve should I order to match your tank?
    A shopper on Aug 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I had the same issue with mine and I was able to buy a rebuild kit for the petcock (new seals and filter screen) and with a little polishing it worked like new. I had to trim the hose, but the stock unit worked well with the Clarke tank.
Do I need a longer fuel hose to install this on my 2001 CR125R?
    Chris H on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I replaced the hose regardless so I had fresh rubber on my new tank. I think since the tank is a different size that the hose will be a different length.
Will this tank fit on a drz 400 with a seat concepts seat?
    Myles G on Nov 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you buy the correct tank for your bike, it should fit with any seat currently working with a stock tank.
Will the 3.9 gal tank for a 2005 YZ250 (2 stroke) work with a Scotts sub mount steering stabilizer?
    Michael B on Feb 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mine works just fine with a Scott's sub mount stabilizer but I'm pretty sure my Clarke tank is 3.2 gallon. I bet it would work because there seems to be plenty of extra room for a larger tank but nott 100% sure.
