ATV Handguards and Handlebar Mitts

Are ATV handguards important? Yes! If you do any amount of trail riding, you know how it is to have little branches flicking your knuckles and brake levers. And if you enjoy racing or simply riding with others, you know what it’s like to be constantly bombarded with roost. Not only are both of these annoying, but they can also begin to cause real pain. And under the wrong circumstances, they can even be unsafe if it causes serious problems with your brake levers.

Don’t let the branches or roost win. Get handguards instead. You’ll be amazed at how much you like them. And if you need something that can take a real impact, make sure you get bark busters. While all handguards are designed with high quality plastics to ward off twigs and small branches, some (affectionately called “bark busters”) also include a metal bar to withstand larger objects. Get whatever is appropriate for your riding habits.

At Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, we stock a variety of handguard brands:

  • Maier
  • Pro Taper
  • Acerbis
  • Tusk
  • Cycra
  • Enduro Engineering
  • And others

Each brand offers several different options, so you’ve got plenty of choices when looking for handguards to fit your quad.

Aside from trail protection, you’ll also find a few ATV hand warmers here as well. These are special handguards that are designed more as protection against the cold winter weather than they are against branches on trails.

Take a look at the ATV handguards on the page to see what interests you. With such a variety of styles, colors and designs, you’re sure to find the perfect match for you.

    Great setup

I bought these to replace the factory KTM ones. These are great, very solid and fit well. Save your grips and levers when you drop your bike. The bar design is nice because it still leaves the side open and doesn't rub on your pinky finger.

    Thumbs up for Cycra!

These are great hand shields. They are even better mounted onto Cycra Pro-bend hand guards. They are thick, rigid, and high quality. On top of that, they are made in the USA. I enjoy supporting an American company, who shares the same passion I do.

    Won't fit over hand guards

I tried these on 2 different bikes with 2 different handguards (Barkbuster & Cycra) and they won't work. Even without the handguards they don't seem like they would fit well. The metal stiffeners in the opening seem like they would become uncomfortable and difficult to fit & keep warmth in/air out.

Pick up a set for spares

Cycra's have saved my levers countless time, all of that abuse though often rotates the guards and over time wears down the aluminum, plus a really good hit and you can bend the bolt. So now I have a spare since I needed to replace one side. I think there might be some designs that are a little better but not a big enough deal to experiment for what might be a small incremental improvement.
