    ok tires
Installed on a KTM 1090 and was pretty happy with the dry handling on and off road. But this tire is terrible on the street in the wet and didn't get 2k miles out of them. Wouldn't recommend.

Karoo 3s on an 1190 Adventure
I'd used these on my 950SE the last few years I had it and decided to try them on my 1190 (standard). They work very well on the 1190 off pavement and on. No traction issues off or on road- excet with wet rocks, which are problematic for any non trials tire. This past weekend I did part of the MABDR while riding in the Bald Eagle State Forest area, and then had to ride home (twisty & highway) 240 miles in a pretty heavy rainstorm (ahead of Hurricane Florence). Only downside is a slight vibration going a couple mph and they sure wear fast when TC is turned off lol.

As a bonus, RM had them at a great price!

Good balance of dirt/pavement. A bit loud, but good performance overall.

    Good tires
These are the factory recommended dirt tire for my Triumph Tiger 800 XCX. That being said I can compare them to the issued Bridgestone Battle wings, Kenda big blocks and Shinko 804/805 combo as Ive worn out a set of each on this bike.
These are the best for off highway I'll run a set on an upcoming mostly dirt trip of 3k miles.. Run the pressure down to 22 psi and they hook up quite well. very noisy on the hwy at any pressure.

The shinkos are my favorite all around tire for traction and wear.
The Kendas are ok the Shinko steers better to split hairs.

The stock battle wings are an awesome tire, work quite well on dry dirt/rock surfaces aired down. Don't dare try riding them with any wet dirt.

A bit sketchy for aggressive riders
I mounted front and rear of these on my TE610E dual sport. Overall these are a step backward in terms of grip compared to the T63s I have been using (Michelin stopped making T63s). The rear steps out when I roll on the throttle coming out of corners. on the road. To their credit, the tires ride nice on the road and are very quiet, but for an aggressive rider they lack traction. I haven't felt the front push, but I just don't have any confidence. The story is worse off road. They just slip and slide all over the place. I hope they wear out quickly so I can get something better.

2014 Triumph 800 xc rear tire.
This is my forth rear karoo 3 and they are awesome tiers. the rear has very good traction in all road and off road conditions wet, dry and muddy dirt roads. the rear tires don't ware as long as the front but the performance make if worth it. they work awesome on my 2014 Triumph Tiger 800 xc.

Metzler Karoo 3 Set (Rear Review)
Just ran a 200 mile test ride on my first set of Karoo 3's. 60% twisties, 30% back road, 10% class 4 (VT for unmaintained road/trail). Performance all around was excellent, Was able to scrape the pegs on the corners and roll up some stream beds no problem. I recommend!

    I keep buying them
I'm on my 5th rear and 3rd front. I love everything about them. They work well off road and they hook up great on the pavement. The only drawback is tire life expectancy. I'm lucky if I get 4,000 miles out of the rear. Most times I don't. But I really like these tires.

    Great Tire Great Price
This tire is a winner! I have been running the Metzeler Sahara 3's for several years now. Great tire but expensive.
After 200 miles I think the Karoo 3 is at least as good as the Sahara on the road and it's way way better off road.
I will be running Karoo 3's on my KLR 650 from now on.

The hardest tire I have had to mount on my klr650.Now that it is on I like the way it rides on the road off road is it is very good going straight it lacks side bite in the comets. Would not put on myself again but over but like now it is on. Over 500 miles of true 50/50 riding

    Can I use a Karoo 3 140/80-18 with a tube on my XR650L?
    A shopper on Mar 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: While I can't honestly answer your question as it relates specifically to the XR650, I can offer this: My riding buddy and I do a lot of long-distance adventure riding on our GS1200's and we always carry spare tubes for the Karoos. Now, the GS rims are designed to run tubeless tires, we carry spare tubes in the event of a severe cut or sidewall tear that has to be limped out of the boonies back to civilization. I know that's not exactly your situation nor what you asked exactly, but hopefully it helps a little. Might also want to consult with Metzler with that one as well. Beyond that, I LOVE the Karoo 3's. :-)
