4 stars because it does exactly what you expect it to do. I used to goof around with moto tires on my EXC 500 dual sport, Carcasses were too soft and knobbies too tall for road sections. Finally switched to a 606 front and it was good in the dirt and spectacular on the road sections and high speed gravel/fire road sections. Good stiff carcass, confidence inspiring on road. Certainly a compromise in the sand, but with the weight up front with my oversize tank and GPS, it is the best DS yet. Tested in Warner Valley/ Toquerville UT. St. George area.

I really like the profile and it grips well on pavement. I haven't used on the dirt, but seems to track better than old style trials block tires.

My riding is a fairly 50/50 split in terms of mileage, but more like 80/20 in terms of time. Most rides being 10-20 mile road commutes to get to singletrack, followed by multiple hours of PNW trail/enduro riding. While the Trakmasters are far from comfortable on tarmac, they do the job and have lasted better than I expected. They can get downright scary when leaning over on pavement, but I have found you can easily feel the corner knobs fold over prior to traction completely giving up, so while they can be a bit terrifying they aren't dangerous. My XR400 isn't really geared for much over 55-60mph, and that matches pretty well with what these tires are happy cruising at. Off road these are fantastic. Traction is predicable in any conditions, if not outstanding in any one situation. Personally this is what I like from a tire, just a good "set and forget" option that works for anything. The knobs aren't quite tall enough to be the best for deep sand or mud, and the compound isn't soft enough to be incredible on rocks or hard pack, but overall it strikes a great balance. Pictured is wear after ~15-20 good dual sport rides and some mild commuting. Somewhere in the range of 800 miles and the center knobs are around 50% worn, with only 2-3 intermediate knobs torn off. Not amazing life but more than adequate for a very dirt biased tire

Thought I might be going cheap getting these tires but overall they have been excellent on dry and wet roads. I feel confidence to make tight turns on streets as it always has been planted and firm. I have 3000 miles on the tires and they are barely showing any wear. Will get them again when ready to replace tires.

Quick shipping and fair pricing. Greatly improved off road grip compared to the factory tires. Still good grip on pavement also. Minimal riding on wet pavement to date, too early to determine tread life.
